There are two types of Nixle messages sent by the Northstar Fire Department: Advisory messages and Alerts. Advisory messages are of lower importance and include messages like smoke from distance wildfires, heavy traffic conditions, or storm advisories. Alert messages are of high importance and include evacuation orders, extreme fire weather (red flag warnings), and immediate threats to public health. All Nixle Advisory messages are sent via email only. All Nixle Alert messages are sent via text and email.
