TO ENSURE YOUR GREEN WASTE IS COLLECTED:
» Materials must be placed curbside before 7 am on the scheduled collection day. Curbside collection can take the
contractor 1-5 days from the posted pickup date to completely service the Northstar Community. Please allow for
that duration of time to lapse before contacting Northstar Fire Department regarding missed piles.
» Any material placed curbside after 7 am on the final scheduled collection date will be considered a violation and
the removal/disposal of that material will be the responsibility of the property owner.
» Green waste material must be separate from materials meant for your weekly garbage service. To avoid Tahoe
Truckee Sierra Disposal (TTSD) mistaking curbside green waste as refuse, property owners should provide a
reasonable distance between materials, allowing distinction between them.
» Northstar Fire Department's Green Waste Curbside Collection Program is for property owners, condominium
association, and HOA's within the Northstar Community.
ADDITIONAL GREEN WASTE COLLECTION & DISPOSAL OPTIONS
6-YARD GREEN WASTE DUMPSTER RENTAL REBATE
To encourage Northstar homeowners to further the community benefit provided by individual defensible space efforts, Northstar Fire Department has allocated funding to reimburse Northstar residents for the rental of a 6-yard green waste dumpster from Tahoe Truckee Sierra Disposal (TTSD). Dumpsters are meant to provide Northstar residents with additional disposal options when the type or quantity of material does not meet the Curbside parameters. Refunds must meet specific conditions and will be available until all program funds have been exhausted. Further information regarding the 6-Yard Green Waste Dumpster Rental Rebate is available HERE.
DROP OFF AT TAHOE TRUCKEE SIERRA DISPOSAL'S EASTERN REGIONAL LANDFILL (ERL)
Residents of Placer County are allowed to drop off up to 6 yards of green waste material to the ERL. If material is transported in bags, the bags must be emptied on site by the hauler. In order to be issued a punch card for free drop-off, residents are required to bring proof of residency. ERL is located on Cabin Creek Road off Highway 89, south of the Town of Truckee. Free drop-off is available May 1st through October 31st, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4 pm.
