Northstar Community Services District invites the public to explore the beauty of the Martis Valley Trail (MVT). Completed in August of 2022, the paved pathway winds alongside Martis Creek Wildlife Area with 360° panoramic mountain views. The path connects the Town of Truckee to Northstar Drive, offering pedestrians and bicyclists a safe alternative route between these two popular destinations. The project has been an interagency collaboration between Placer County, and NCSD with other partner agencies that include the United States Army Corps of Engineers, the Washoe Tribe, Truckee Donner Land Trust and Northstar California Resorts (Vail). The MVT trail will be integrated to be a part of the Resort Triangle Trail Network. Upon completion, the network will consist of 62 miles of paved trails and will connect the communities of Kings Beach, Tahoe City, Olympic Valley, Truckee, Martis Valley and Northstar in a continuous circuit, separated from highways and roads to maximize the safety and experience of trail users. Once completed, the Martis Valley Trail will consist of over 10 miles of paved pathway and connect with a trail to the Lake Tahoe Basin by way of Brockway Summit. All trails are open year-round to the public for hiking, running, biking, and recreating.
